Meet Our Team
Joe Boyle, AIA
Founder
Joe grew up in Chicago, with his eyes on the iconic city skyline. He studied architecture in Milwaukee and Paris and worked for an international architecture firm in New York before attending graduate school at the University of Texas. His childhood was a blend of urban living, weekends at the rural farm of his Nana, and camping trips, fostering a deep connection to both cityscapes and nature. He is a stargazer, a cyclist, husband and girl dad. Joe launched Outward Architecture in February of 2022 as a means to unify passion for architecture and the outdoors.
Robbie Anderson, Assoc. AIA
Project Designer
Robbie grew up on the South Carolina coast and made his way to Austin via Nashville, TN. He studied music before receiving a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University. He earned his Master of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin and has practiced in Copenhagen, Denmark. Robbie is the current chair of the LGBTQIA Alliance at AIA Austin, where he advocates for queer visibility in the profession and the preservation of queer space. He is a cine and telephile who enjoys Sunday mornings at Barton Springs, learning French, and pretending to be a runner.
Brooke Burnside
Project Designer
Brooke Burnside was born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas. She came to the U.S. to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Film from Vassar College, as well as a Master of Arts in Media, Culture, and Communication from New York University. In 2019, she graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Masters Degree in Architecture. Since then, she has gained experience in both commercial and residential architecture while working with Chioco Design, Fox Fox Studio, and Outward Architecture.
Emilio Marques
Architect
Emílio Marques works closely with the team supporting project delivery through high quality modeling and coordination. With experience across projects in the US and UK, he applies standard driven workflows aligned with international best practices. His work bridges design intent and technical execution, supporting efficiency and consistency across teams.
Ingrid Freire
Architect
Originally from Brazil, Ingrid completed her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, with an exchange experience in the UK. Driven by her interest in technology and its impact on the AEC industry, she later pursued a European Master in Building Information Modelling in Portugal. Today, she is based in Spain and is an Autodesk Revit Certified Professional and AIA International Associate.
